Become a Public Health Protection Volunteer

Innovation Description

The disproportionate needs created by the Covid-19 pandemic and this unprecedented situation make it necessary in every way to strengthen the national health system. Thus, in addition to the assistance to medical and nursing staff as well as equipment, it was deemed necessary to provide health services to the health structures of our country by volunteers. The volunteer program is aimed at anyone who can offer their services such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, psychologists, students, etc. but also to anyone who wishes to contribute to this battle by providing administrative, technical and any other support to the health system.

The volunteers support the health structures of the country in order to cover the needs that arise, provide specific work and cooperate with the already serving staff. After registering by filling in their details in the relevant registration form, the applications are registered per Health Region according to the declaration of preference and then distributed by the Health Regions according to the needs that arise in the health structures of their area of responsibility. They are then called for an interview, and after considering various facts, the selection is made. After fast training, the volunteers start working immediately.

Target

The mobilization of social capital to support national actions for the protection of Public Health and the support of the health system of the country through the attraction of volunteers. The action strengthens the capacity of the health system in case of overload due to emergencies, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, which threaten Public Health. The result of the action will be the awareness and mobilization of the citizens in the efforts of the State for a resilient health system and the promotion of voluntary actions and actions of social responsibility.

Collaborations

The action was planned by the General Secretariat of Public Health and the Directorate of Operational Emergency Preparedness of the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Government.

Maintaining and integrating innovation after the COVID-19 crisis

Such actions can continue to be implemented after the end of the Covid-19 crisis, as a Joint Ministerial Decision has been issued, in order to establish the legal framework that will enable the provision of voluntary services in public health structures and structures of other Ministries.
