Innovation description

The Pampeloponnisiakon Stadium of the Municipality of Patras is a large set of Olympic sport facilities with a main football field with a capacity of 23,588 seats, main open track, auxiliary football field, 5 * 5 football fields, basketball and volleyball fields, indoor halls, ping-pong, wrestling and weight halls etc. The activity amounts to 300 people on average per day, not counting the continuous international, national and local games and without including the frequent attendance of citizens during cultural and other activities.

The daily entry control of the athletes took place with a handwritten record in books. Crowding during peak hours increasingly created conditions for disease transmission, inefficiency and limited service delivery.

At the crisis of COVID-19, the Municipality of Patras responded immediately and actively developing without any cost, with the existing staff of the Municipality of Patras at the Pampeloponnisiakon Stadium, a web application for controlling the contactless access of athletes and visitors to the Stadium. During the athlete's entry, the visit time, the athlete / visitor's id is passed to the login application, automatically retrieving in real time the data, such as time, name, surname, title, sports club, sports venue, etc. from the application database, while


Utilising BLUE LAB’s technological equipment for the construction of protection shields against COVID-19 0 (0)

Innovation Description

The Municipality of Piraeus with the use of advanced technological equipment of the Business Innovation Center for Blue Growth - "Blue Lab", contributed to dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic by producing face shields. The shields are produced by the method of 3D printing and are offered free of charge to the medical and nursing staff of the country.

With the possibility of producing 60 protection shields per day, the Municipality of Piraeus was called upon to provide a solution to the important problem that has arisen, regarding the supply of necessary material for the protection of public health and health personnel, with the 3D printing technology of the "Blue Lab". To date, 2,000 shields have been distributed to nursing staff, health centers, nursing homes, school cleaners, staff of the Municipality working in cutting-edge services, such as KEP, etc.

Ιnnovation Description 

The Municipality of Visaltia has developed an electronic application, through which it can receive electronic requests from citizens and businesses, process them and return them to the citizens' digital mailbox. Thus, during the Covid-19 pandemic, physical interaction is avoided, through which the virus is transmitted, both to citizens and to public servants, as physical presence is not required and requests are processed remotely.

The platform is in pilot implementation from May 8. Citizens can submit applications and receive certificates from the municipal register and male registry, cleaning and green services, financial and technical services, water supply, sewerage and irrigation services as well as general requests.


So far, the majority of requests (approximately 60%) concern the issue of certificates, while a large portion (approximately 30%) concerns requests to the Cleaning and Green services. The goal is in the coming months 50% of all requests to the municipality to be carried out electronically in order to facilitate both citizens and employees working from home.
