Distance training of professional teams in radiation protection issues 0 (0)

Description of innovation

The Greek Atomic Energy Commission (ΕΕΑΕ) adapts to the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. It organizes online / distance training of professional teams in the field of radiation protection, offering professionals the opportunity to access training activities that combine theoretical and practical teaching regarding the safe use of radiation sources, or their harmless engagement with radiation practices. Radiation protection training mainly concerns radiation workers. These are workers in hospitals and health facilities (eg technologists, nursing staff, doctors, radiophysicists) and industrial areas e.g. radiographers. Plus, it may concern personnel of the special emergency response teams (eg Fire Brigade, Coast Guard, EKAB, etc.).

The first webinar was attended by 35 trainees, working in customs, airport and port facilities, as well as transport companies, which operate safety systems using radiation, i.e. the well-known X-ray machines and was supported by 2 EEAE's trainers.

The purpose is that during the period of pandemic a high level of safety culture is maintained in organizations and staff who apply practices using radiation.

Maintain and integrate innovation after the COVID-19 crisis

Electronic distance training is going to continue after the end of the pandemic.

Remote Electronic Inspections 0 (0)

Description of innovation

Greek Atomic Energy Commission (EEAE) implements an inspection system to enforce the provisions of the radiation protection regulations adapted to the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Inspections are part of the regulatory review to ensure compliance with the radiation protection requirements to which (a) all justified radiation practices (b) practices involving natural radioactive materials causing exposure of employees, which should not be overlooked, in terms of radiation protection and (c) the transport of radioactive materials. Therefore, organizations subject to inspections are between others, health units, public and private hospitals, health centers, clinics where radiation equipment operates (radiotherapy units, dental clinics, nuclear medicine laboratories, laboratories with MRI scans, etc.), and radioactive material transport companies.

After taking into account the magnitude and nature of the risk associated with the practices, an overview of radiation protection issues concerning practices, and the degree of compliance with the provisions of the Radiation Protection Regulations, the inspection program was designed. Inspections are "scheduled" or "unplanned," which means that they can get carried out at any time. In both cases, inspections can be either "warned" or "unannounced."

Carrying out electronic inspections during the current pandemic period contributes to the safety of all and,

Innovation Description

#AnimalSolidarityGR invites companies, organizations and veterinarians from all over the country who want to help, so that we do not leave our four-legged friends unprotected at this unprecedented time. Today, and as long as the measures to reduce the spread of Covid-19 continue, both stray animals and pets whose owners are unable to take care of them, need our help. Taking care of their well-being is an act of responsibility and humanity.

The protection of stray animals as well as pets whose owner are unable to take care of them, through the provision of food, veterinary services, medicines, distribution and transportation services.

The action is implemented with the cooperation of KEDE (Union of Municipalities and Regions) and with those who submit their product and services offers for the care of animals. KEDE is informed daily about the available offers and takes care of their distribution in the municipalities, depending on the needs.
