George Papakyriakopoulos is a Senior Security Consultant and Social Engineering Leader for Cisco Security Services EMEAR (Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Russia) and has been with Cisco since 2015, serving from the London office, before moving to the Athens office to better support the region.
Having a strong background and experience in web development, security engineering and penetration testing enables him to have a firm understanding of effective cybersecurity from the mindset of both “attackers” and “defenders” alike.
He has been involved in numerous projects, on behalf of large enterprises, organizations and public sector entities across the region as a trusted cybersecurity advisor, delivering highly-valued expertise on improving cybersecurity across all functions, from a high-level strategic and architectural point of view, down to security recommendations and vulnerability mitigations for actual systems, infrastructure and services.
Before joining Cisco, George help positions in both large enterprises and startup environments, focusing on secure systems development and integration, cybersecurity technical assurance, compliance and fraud prevention for more than 4 years.
George holds a BSc. in Informatics and Telecommunications from the University of Athens and is also a certified member of a number of highly-respectable cybersecurity bodies, holding numerous certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from ISC2, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) as well as CREST Registered Penetration Tester (CRT). He has also contributed to cybersecurity research on the field of blockchain technologies and consensus protocols.
